Kirbyville School Bus involved in an accident this morning. No injuries reported
The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated a non-injury crash involving a school bus on U.S. Highway 96, near County Road 604, that occurred today, October 29.
DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 6:50 a.m., a Kirbyville CISD school bus was northbound in the outside lane and stopped with its red flashing lights on and stop sign extended."
According to Clark, a 2016 Chevrolet pickup traveling in the inside lane, also northbound, failed to stop for the school bus and struck the extended stop sign.
The driver of the school bus and approximately 20 students, were not injured. The driver is identified as 53-year-old Dawn Rorer of Willis.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 65-year-old Jackie Davis of Buna, was also not injured.
