Kirbyville man injured in an ATV wreck in Bleakwood-Air Rescue called out

At around 3:50 Wednesday afternoon, Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Department was called out to County Road 4056 near Hwy 87 in Bleakwood regarding an ATV accident.

The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash. Media Officer Shana Clark stated that the findings indicate that a Polaris ATV was traveling west on 4056. It is reported that the driver was traveling at an unsafe speed around a curve and overturned.

The driver, identified as 61-year-old Scott Hughes of Kirbyville, was transported via life flight to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Trout Creek VFD Chief Jamie Bragg said, "There were two helicopters called out at the same time. The second one was for a stroke victim. However, that person ended up being taken by ambulance instead."

There is no further information at this time.
