Judge Allen on the possibility of issuing a county-wide burn ban

With neighboring County's enacting burn bans, ETB spoke to Jasper County Judge Mark Allen what we can expect for our area.

Allen said, "We are getting very close. We are monitoring the Texas Forest Service's Keetch-Byram Drought Index daily reports and their Texas Fire Danger projections, as well as weather projections from the National Weather Service. The counties to the south of us are already under extreme KBDI conditions and we will probably follow in the next few days with no rainfall".

Allen assured us that he will let us know when a burn ban is issued and get us the documentation to share with our readers as that information is made available.

"Meanwhile" Allen added, "We are urging all of our people who need to burn, whether commercially in clearing property or for their own farm, ranch or household needs to use extreme caution and remember that we put our firemen in danger each time they have to respond to a fire out of control".
