Joyce Yvonne Harris Midkiff August 25, 1929 - September 8, 2024

A Celebration of Joyce Yvonne Harris Midkiff’s Life, age 95, of Harrisburg, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home with burial to follow at Weeks Chapel Cemetery in Newton County. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024 at the funeral home.

Joyce passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas. A native of Harrisburg Community, she was a former resident of Post and Tahoka, Texas for thirty eight years. Joyce was a graduate of Jasper High School. She married David Midkiff, Jr. on Sept. 24, 1948 and then moved to Post, Texas where she worked for General Telephone Company for twelve years. After retirement in 1986 they moved back to Harrisburg. Joyce liked reading, word puzzles, sewing and loved to play board games and watch Dallas Cowboy football and Texas Rangers baseball games on television.

Joyce is survived by her son, Dave Midkiff and wife of Anita of Harrisburg, Texas; brothers, Joe Harris of Harrisburg, Texas and Jimmy Harris and wife Annie Lou of Abilene, Texas; sisters, Ouida Rose Blackledge, Frances Ann Grice and Avalon Cowan all of San Angelo, Texas; granddaughter, Angie Kannada and great granddaughter, Roxy Kannada, and many beloved nieces and nephews, neighbors and their families.

She was preceded in death by parents, Ogle and Nita Harris; husband of 65 years, David Midkiff, Jr.; grandson David Ray Midkiff; brothers, Thurman, Lynn, Jerry, Doyle and Bill; sisters, Virginia West and Reba Milner.
