John Gilley July 24, 1943 - August 14, 2024

A Celebration of John M. Gilley, Sr.’s Life, age 81, of Jasper, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow at Magnolia Springs Cemetery in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home.

John passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Texas surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Kirbyville, Texas, former resident of Beaumont, Texas and longtime resident of Jasper, John was a certified Chevrolet Technician/Mechanic for several years and owned his own shop in Jasper. He loved fishing and racing cars on dirt tracks over the years.

John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda Gilley of Jasper, Texas; son, John Gilley, Jr. and wife Delores of Jasper, Texas; daughter, Patricia Rankin and husband Doug of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Everett Gilley and Marvin Gilley both of Kirbyville, Texas; sisters, Yvonne Cole of Kirbyville, Texas and Ann Ferguson of Center, Texas and grandchild, Christopher Poe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ruby Gilley; brothers, Bobby Gilley, Elmer Gilley and Tommy Ray Gilley and sister, Nancy Pratt.
