Jasper man with Felony warrant who didn't turn himself in as promised, was caught with a stolen travel trailer on his property and was given a second felony charge

Jasper, TX - At 10:15 Monday morning, 59-year-old Terry Michael Stephenson, of Jasper contacted Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard and asked if he had a warrant.


After a quick check, Sheriff Havard confirmed that Stevenson had a warrant out of Jasper County for Theft of Material which is a State Jail Felony they agreed for the man to turn himself in by 11:30 am this morning.


When Stephenson failed to report to the Sheriff’s Office as instructed, Havard and his deputies immediately went to his residence in Brookeland.


After arriving at the residence, Chief Deputy Larry Pulliam checked the status of two travel trailers found on the property and discovered they had been stolen out of Nederland in 2014. Stephenson was not located on the property.

Havard contacted the man again and strongly encouraged him to get to the Sheriff’s Office immediately.

When Stephenson arrived, he was placed into custody by the Sheriff in the parking lot and was then walked into the Jasper County Jail where will be facing yet another charge, this time related to the stolen travel trailer for Theft of Property of $2500-30K a second State Jail Felony.


The stolen travel trailer was removed from the property.


Sheriff Havard wants to remind the public that Stephenson is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.


Sheriff Chuck Havard said that and his staff are committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County and that the Sheriff’s Office will deploy every resource available to keep our county safe.
