Jasper man killed in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday morning
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a one-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Jasper man Tuesday morning on Highway 96, near the 408-mile marker.
DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 11:21 a.m., a 2021 Kia Soul was traveling north and for an unknown reason, traveled off the road to the right and into the tree line."
The driver, identified as 69-year-old David Gates of Jasper, was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
