Jasper man gets felony charge for repeatedly evading arrest

A Jasper man with previous convictions for evading arrest has earned himself a felony charge for once again, evading arrest.

Jasper Police Chief Garrett Foster said, "A 49-year-old Jasper man was driving a 2019 Dodge pickup truck when an officer tried to make a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Gibson Street after receiving a call about the driver. However, the suspect refused to stop and continued driving for approximately 2 miles until he finally stopped on Dorgan Drive in southeast Jasper, where he was taken into custody".

The suspect has previous convictions for Evading Arrest or Detention, and because of that, he is being charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle with Previous Convictions, which is a Felony 3.

Foster said that the man also appeared to have been drinking, and he had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
