Jasper man arrested in Buna for drugs and weapons violations

Thursday evening at approximately 9:46 p.m., a Jasper County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle for a defective tail lamp on Highway 96 south near Tractor Supply in Buna. The driver was identified as 40-year-old Arnulfo Hernandez, of Jasper.
The deputy established probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, 7.3 grams of methamphetamine were discovered and a short barrel shotgun.
Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Jasper County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance which is a 2nd degree felony and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, a 3rd degree felony.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard wants the public to know that Hernandez is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
