Jasper County Sheriff's Office introduced 20 year police veteran as Mental Health Officer
Sheriff Chuck Havard is proud to announce Jasper County’s new mental health deputy. Deputy Mitch Hanley, a retired 20 year veteran of the Beaumont Police Department, was recently hired. According to Sheriff Havard, “This is one of the most crucial jobs in the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Hanley will be directly responsible for delivering mental health services within our county to people in need to try and improve their quality of life. We will do everything we can to intervene and support people when they are in a mental health crisis. Jail is not the answer. We are happy to bring Mitch on board and we look forward to utilizing his many years of experience. His temperament is perfect. I would also like to thank Spindletop for the strong partnership we have with them”.
Deputy Hanley grew up in Nederland. He and his wife, Christine, have five children. He enjoys riding motorcycles, reading and playing the guitar. Deputy Hanley states, “I am passionate about helping people in need and I’m looking forward to my new role with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. I will do everything possible to serve the people of Jasper County”.
