Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard and his staff introduce new officer, K9 Leroy.


The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office announced today that their agency will be deploying another asset to assist the residents of Jasper County. Sheriff Chuck Havard is proud to announce the newest member of his staff, K9 officer Leroy.


Leroy is a Belgian Malinois who is certified as a dual purpose patrol/narcotics K9. Leroy is trained in criminal fugitive apprehension, handler protection, tracking, article detection and narcotics detection. Leroy received his patrol training in Europe and his narcotics training in the State of Louisiana. He has been in Law Enforcement for 6 years. His handler is 32 year law enforcement veteran, Lieutenant Chad Ainsworth.


According to Sheriff Havard, “Leroy is going to be a vital asset to our Sheriff’s Office. He has been responsible for multiple narcotics seizures along with tracking and locating wanted criminals. Leroy stands ready to protect and serve the people of Jasper County.”
