Update: Jasper County is still receiving FEMA applications
Updated information;
While many areas have ended the FEMA application process, Jasper County is still receiving applications. That is IF you have a valid reason for not meeting the August 15th deadline.
Jasper County Judge Mark Allen said, "FEMA assistance is available for both federally declared disaster events. (April flooding events through Hurricane Beryl) However, they are separated out under separate application processes. Citizens can still register for both online at DisasterAssistance.Gov or they can come to Jasper County's Disaster Recovery Center at the Courthouse Annex in Jasper to speak directly with FEMA, SBA and other federal personnel to file or get assistance in processing their claims".
There has been some confusion regarding the shutdown of some of the local Disaster Recovery Centers . Allen said, "I think that there is some confusion on dates because some local DRC's in other counties are shutting down early. However we still have a good turnout and will keep ours open as long as there is a need."
Allen continued, "Yesterday was the last official date to file new claims for the disaster event that began in April. However, FEMA's personnel at the Jasper County DRC will still accept new applications for that disaster, but only after the applicant officially declares a valid reason why they are filing late. The Hurricane Beryl application process will continue as normal for now."
Allen said that he doesn't have a deadline for the 'late fillings' but will update us when he hears something.
Allen added that the personnel at the Jasper center are highly trained and are handling both disaster events at this location. You can apply in the office located at 271 E Lamar St, Suite 101 in Jasper or one of the three ways in the graphic below;
