Jasper County Commissioners Court

The Jasper County Commissioners Court met on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 in a Special Session and covered the following agenda items:

First the Court heard from Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Jason Hollyfield who requested authorization to transfer a surplus portable radio and charging station from the Sheriff’s Office to the Evadale ISD Police Department to allow for communication between the Sheriff’s Office and their Police Officer.

Hollyfield further advised that the Sheriff’s Office had ordered several new dual-band radios that would replace older models such as the radio being donated to Evadale ISD.

Hollyfield also requested authorization to transfer two emergency light bars no longer in use by the Sheriff’s Office over to the Kirbyville and Roganville Volunteer Fire Departments, all of which the Court approved.

Concluding law enforcement matters, the Court voted to accept a grant to reimburse Jasper County for a new patrol vehicle for the Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Deputy, which will be provided by the Spindletop Center out of Beaumont. Lieutenant Hollyfield advised that the current patrol vehicle being utilized was still in good condition and would be placed back into the Sheriff’s Office fleet for use by Patrol Deputies upon receiving the new grant-funded vehicle.

Next, the Court voted to authorize Blackfin Pipeline, LLC to bore under County Roads 864 and 887 in Precinct 4 to construct a new 48-inch natural gas pipeline crossing Jasper County in the Evadale area.

The Court then voted to activate Jasper County’s pre-positioned debris removal contract with DRC Emergency Services and a debris monitoring services contract with DebrisTech for removing storm debris from right of ways along county roads in areas affected by Hurricane Beryl. The current estimate of remaining storm debris to be removed along county roads is approximately 5,000 to 7,000 cubic yards.

Next the Court voted to set the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles optional fees for Jasper County for calendar year 2025, opting to leave them at the same rate as CY2024.

Concluding business, the Court voted to continue authorizing the publication for bids for proposed renewable energy projects on Jasper County’s school land in Pecos County.

That covers it for this Court meeting. Have a great week, and as always, feel free to give me a call if you need anything my way.
