Jasper County Commissioners Court

The Jasper County Commissioners Court met in a short Special Session on Friday, June 28th, 2024 and covered the following agenda items:

First, the Court heard from Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Scott Duncan and Administrative Assistants Jo Ann Sargent and Donna Berger, who requested that the Court purchase a search and rescue boat, boat motor and trailer for Emergency Services District # 2 and the Evadale Volunteer Fire Department.

Chief Duncan explained that previously, the Court had authorized the Sheriff’s Office to acquire a boat for Emergency Services District # 4 for water search and rescue operations, and that the Sheriff’s Office felt that placing an additional watercraft in the southern half of Jasper County near the Neches River would greatly help in rescue efforts.

The Court then voted to authorize the purchase of the boat, boat motor and trailer and to transfer title to Emergency Services District # 2, utilizing the Prisoner Reimbursement Fund, which is derived from housing inmates from outside counties.

Next, the Court held a budget workshop on the FY2025 budget and discussed Jasper County’s health plan, with no action being taken at this time.
