Jasper County Chief's Report
By Chief Deputy Scott Duncan
December 4, 2023
It was a busy week in Jasper County the past week. Dispatch had a continuous stream of calls coming in and deputies were working hard answering them.
The Sheriff had his game camera stolen
this past week. The thief has continuously taken photos of himself since the theft, and we are working to identify him. We would appreciate this individual bringing the camera to the Sheriff’s Office and having a chat with us.
We responded to several mental health calls this week. This time
of year can bring on many stresses, and we just want everyone to
be safe and seek proper care. We are thankful for Spindletop
and their partnership in providing these critical services.
Saturday, we responded to an individual who was having a mental
health crisis and during the incident he fired shots at the
responding deputy. We then had a several hour standoff with the
individual which ultimately ended in him being transported to
the hospital for mental health services. Charges are pending at
this time as we investigate the incident. I want to commend my
team and also Kirbyville PD and DPS for their assistance.
Today is the last day for Blue Santa applications, so please get
those turned in. We are still accepting donations and look
forward to another successful year of giving gifts to those in
need.
We have 139 in the jail this morning. If you need us, call!
