Jasper and Newton Counties recruiting new Deputies

Newly elected Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard won't take office until January, but he's already hard at work recruiting new deputies. Last night Havard held an 'informational' meeting at the Jasper County Annex Building in Jasper.

Havard said, "We were very pleased with the interest in the Jasper Police Academy tonight. We had a large turnout. So far, 43 potential cadets have picked up applications. I commend the men and women who showed up and are willing to step up for Jasper/ Newton County law enforcement. We will continue to recruit quality applicants".
