Incident at Kirbyville High School


On January 8th, 2025 at approximately 12:15 PM. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a juvenile with a gun on the campus of Kirbyville High School.


The 14-year-old student had reportedly brought the gun to school to trade with a 16-year-old student for vapes, according to Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard.


Jasper County Sheriff Deputies and Kirbyville Police immediately responded and were on the campus within minutes.


A weapon was recovered and two juveniles are in custody. This is still an active investigation.


This is not an active shooter situation. Various law-enforcement agencies are still on the campus but the school is safe and secure. There were no shots fired nor were there any reported injuries. All students are safe.
