Icy conditions played a part in a two vehicle accident Tuesday
The Department of Public Safety is investigating an accident that happened on Hwy 63 east, near the Louisiana state line, Tuesday afternoon.
DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 3:25 p.m., a 2010 Ford F-150 was traveling west, followed by a 2020 Ford transit van. It is reported that the Ford F-150 slowed down due to a slower moving vehicle in front and the driver of the van attempted to slow down as well but struck a patch of ice and skid into the rear of the Ford F-150."
The driver of the Ford F-150 and one passenger were not injured. The driver is identified as 41-year-old Jesus Araiza of Charlotte, NC.
The driver of the Ford van, identified as 24-year-old Xavier Wright also of Charlotte, NC., was not injured.
