Home was heavily damaged following a fire Monday afternoon near Jasper

Just before 5 pm Monday, Jasper Volunteer Fire Department was called out to Hwy 96 and Cr 303 for a structure fire. It wasn't long before Tri-Community VFD was also called out to assist with tankers and man power.

Tri-Community VFD Public Information Officer Paul Rutledge said that the fire was contained, however the structure suffered heavy damage.

Rutledge added, "First units on scene observed heavy fire on the north end of the home. They dispatched us for tanker support and man power. We arrived on scene, packed out, and helped make an interior attack. We also sent a crew to the roof to vent to relieve heat and help contain the fire."
