Glenn Porter Payne, Sr. January 2, 1950 - August 15, 2024

Glenn Porter Payne, Sr., age 74 of Jasper, Texas passed away August 15, 2024 at CHRISTUS Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Texas. He was born in Bay City, Texas on January 2, 1950.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Nola Payne; daughter, Paige and sister, Cindy.

Glenn is survived by his son, Porter Payne and wife Monte of Jarrell, Texas, grandchildren, Luke Payne, Mikah Ross and Rebekah Ross; sister, Vicky Payne of Jasper, Texas and brother, Skipper Payne and wife Katie of Jasper, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Glenn loved the times spent with family and friends. He appreciated good conversations and lively discussions. He enjoyed recalling the good old days and how things used to be. He was known as a hard worker and demonstrated this for many years while working as the owner/operator of Glenn Payne Carpet and Vinyl Installation for over 25 years. In recent years, Glenn found joy in maintaining a nicely manicured yard and was always looking to make improvements in the landscape around his home.

He was a proud graduate of Jasper High School, Class of 1968. He was also very appreciative of his childhood years growing up in the community of Beech Grove and the education he received while attending school there.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

The family respectfully request that expressions of sympathy be by condolence card in lieu of flowers or charity donations.
