Updated information: Four vehicle crash just South of Woodville today sent five to area hospitals

At approximately 5 p.m. Thursday on Hwy 69, just south of Woodville, a major accident occurred involving four vehicles.


The Texas Department of Public Safety Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "All persons involved (five total) were taken to various hospitals for treatment of injuries, two of which are considered life-threatening, including a 16-year-old who was transported to Memorial Hermann in Houston. This investigation remains ongoing."


Update:

DPS Media Sergeant Clark said, " A 1998 Dodge passenger car was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet pickup which was traveling north. It is unknown at this time the direction of travel of the Dodge. After impact, the Dodge veered into oncoming lane and was struck by a 2021 Ford SUV traveling south. After the secondary impact, the Ford traveled across the west side of the road and struck a 2015 Toyota Tacoma, which was exiting a parking lot."

 

The driver of the Dodge, identified as 58-year-old Maria Portillo of Hillister, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, a 16-year-old female, was transported to Memorial Hermann for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

 

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 61-year-old Donnie Releford of Doucette, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The driver of the Ford, identified as 54-year-old Karina Dawson of Chester, was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The driver of the Toyota, identified as 60-year-old Hector Espino of Chester, was transported to Tyler County Hospital for treatment non-life-threatening injuries. 

 

We have no updates on the condition of any of those injured
