Explosion and resulting fire in a Kirbyville hay barn
Just before 1 pm Friday, the Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department was called out to the residence of Felicia Phillips on FM 1013 East in Kirbyville in reference to a hay barn that was engulfed in flames.
No one was at home at the time the fire began, but a neighbor was alerted by an explosion and went to investigate and then called the fire department.
The barn was filled with hay and unfortunately it's contents were a complete loss.
Kirbyville responded with nine people and used 10,000 gallons of water. Pumper 6, tanker 3, brush truck 5 were used to fight the fire. Trout Creek also responded with personnel and pumpers/tankers.
