East End VFD was busy last evening with bus accident and trash fire

Busy evening tonight for East End firefighters.

Shortly after 5 we were called for a two vehicle accident involving a school bus and a log truck. East End arrived along with Texas DPS, Jasper ISD, Allegiance EMS and Jasper County Sheriff Office. We responded with Engine 2 with 4 personnel.

Then at 6:32 PM were called to assist Burkeville Fire for a large trash fire near a wood line. We responded with Engine 2, Brush 2 and Brush 1 with 6 personnel. The homeowner received 2 citations from Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

Just a reminder Jasper and Newton County are still on a burn ban and outdoor burning is prohibited. Also burning certain items are prohibited by state law.
