East End VFD had training from Forestry Service, shedding light on big fire scenes
Monday night East End had a guest speaker from Texas Forestry Service. Jimmy Primrose had been with the Forestry service for almost 25 Years and is also a volunteer Firefighter. Jimmy came to us with a training after last year fire season shed a lot of light on big fire scene like we saw on RR 255 and Sherwood Creek Fire, Radio communications and spot fires. Working with many different agencies brings all different challenges with radio communications. Forestry service will operate on one channel while the Fire Department with operates on another, but the can still communicate together with various TAC channels that every Fire Departments should have on their radios (Which East End Does). These channels allow different agencies to communicate without interfering with the primary channel.
Another subject that Mr.Primrose brought to us is spot fires. As we seen with last year fires a big fire can send embers out and start new fires which can be dangerous for many different reasons.
We want to thank Jimmy Primrose for coming out and talking to us we love training with all the agencies in our area and welcome any agency in our area that wants to get together and train on any subject please reach out to us and we will set something up.
