Early morning house fire was a complete loss

The Lake Rayburn Volunteer Fire Department, and was called out to assist Pineland and Bronson Volunteer Fire Departments extinguish a fully involved structure fire at around 6:00 this morning.

The structure fire was just across the county line on Old Hwy 8 in Brookeland.

Ron Lewis with Lake Rayburn VFD explained why it's important to close doors in your home while sleeping. He said, "This is why you should leave your doors closed when you leave home and while you’re sleeping. The only room in this house that the door was closed on was still intact. Everything else was a complete loss. Leaving your doors closed at night while you sleep buys you valuable time to escape through a window if a fire should occur."
