Early morning house fire North of Kirbyville was a complete loss

Home owner Jacob Butler said that he was at work at Total in Port Arthur when he received the call that his home for the past 10 years was on fire.

Kirbyville and Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Departments were called out to battle the blaze. Jasper EMS were on standby, Kirbyville Police and Jasper County Sheriffs Department were also on scene.

Butlers dad, Wes Butler said that the blaze was first noticed at around 6:15 Friday morning. "I guess its a good thing we had all that rain yesterday because none of the tools were destroyed and the lawn mowers tank didn't explode even though it was sitting right next to the fire", Butler said of a Zero-turn mower. "All the (plastic or rubber components) in the motor were completely melted out, but the gas didn't blow", Butler added.

The home located at 3627 County Road 474 in Kirbyville was a complete loss and there was no insurance on the home at the time of the blaze.
