Updated: Driver walked away from frightening accident with only minor injuries

Updated information

At 7:48 this morning, Kirbyville First Responders, Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department, The Department of Public Safety, and Jasper County Sheriff's Department were called out to County Rd 543 just one mile West of FM 82 West just outside of Kirbyville.

Once they arrived, they were greeted with a very unusual scene. A car ran into a fallen tree which came through the windshield, but miraculously missed the driver who was able to walk away from the accident.

Kirbyville VFD Chief Greg Ellis said, "There were no major injuries and no extraction needed!"

DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "A Toyota 4Runner was traveling west on CR 543. It is reported that the driver, identified as 43-year-old Toni Korman of Vidor traveled off the road to the right and into the water filled ditch where she struck the tree. Korman was not injured."
