Dispute between family ends with one in jail and one in the hospital


On January 16th, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 1:00 pm that a man had been shot at his home on County Road 159 in Jasper.

Upon arrival, deputies found one male with two gunshot wounds and detained another male at

the residence.


After further investigation, 46-year-old William Sims of Jasper was taken into

custody and charged with Aggravated Assault Date/Family/House w/ Weapon Serious Bodily Injury, a

First-Degree Felony.


Sims is being held on a $500,000.00 bond set by Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace

Brett Holloway.


Chief Deputy Scott Duncan stated, “We are thankful that this was not much worse. Heated tempers can have

permanent consequences.”


The victim was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.
