Dirt work has begun on new Air Rescue hangar/office in Jasper
By James Gunter Secretary/Treasurer -Jasper Hospital District
Dirt work has begun on the new Air Rescue - Beaumont/Jasper, Air Evac Lifeteam hangar/office building on Thomas Road in Jasper!
The hangar facility will be much larger with a new landing pad, all under fence and much more secure, that will be connected by a covered walkway to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. There will be adequate room for a larger rotorcraft as well as room for multiple rotorcraft storage in the event of coastal evacuations during a hurricane.
The office building will include offices, a kitchen, common area, and storage. It will also include staff bedrooms for each of the 3 crew members on duty along with private bathroom facilities for each.
The Jasper Hospital District committed to this project simultaneous to receiving a commitment from the Air Evac Lifeteam administration to make the Jasper base a 24 hour continuously staffed base.
What does this mean to Jasper and the surrounding areas?
It means weather permitting, much quicker access to medical facilities providing the highest levels of care.
This new facility is being constructed on property owned by the Jasper Hospital District and located just north of Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in our new Medi-Plex.
Keep an eye on this area in the coming months……more good things are coming…..soon!
