David Talbert Childress October 30, 1963 - July 4, 2024


David Tolbert Childress passed away on July 4, 2024, in Franktown, Colorado, at the age of 60. He was born on October 30, 1963, in Port Arthur, Texas. Dave spent his formative years in Buna, Texas, graduating from Buna High School in 1982. He married his high school sweetheart, Jami, on August 20, 1985. The family moved to California in 1988 where they resided until their move to Colorado in 1996.


Corporal Childress was a dedicated Marine, he served honorably in the Corps from 1988 to 1992, earning a Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Naval Commendation Award. He was stationed at the MCAS Tustin base in California. Following his military service, he worked as a Department of Defense contractor, building computer networks on naval carriers traveling from San Diego through Hawaii and Japan. His post-military career was marked by significant achievements in the IT field. He held pivotal roles at Citibank, where he rose to Data Center Manager, overseeing critical migrations and operations. At EnCana, he was the network engineer who managed all US networks and implemented Cisco telephony to improve communications in the field. He founded CNI Technology, an IT consulting firm, in 2006 which he led faithfully until his passing.


A man of deep faith, Dave attended Journey Church in Castle Rock, Colorado, and has roots at the Central Baptist Church in Buna, Texas. His faith was an integral part of his life, influencing his actions and relationships profoundly. Dave was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Jami, cherishing her above all else. His family was the cornerstone of his life. He supported his children Kristyn, Jacob, and Daniel. He adored his grandchildren, and they brought him great joy.


Dave lived life with passion and enthusiasm, embracing adventure and fun. He entertained the Children with skiing trips through the winter and boating in the summer. Dave was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the serenity and challenge of Colorado terrain. He regularly traveled and loved to enjoy a sunset from the beach in Florida.


Dave is survived by his wife, Jami Childress; mother, Elaine Childress; children, Kristyn (Matt) Koller, Jacob (Kailee) Childress, and Daniel (Sydney) Childress; grandchildren, Emma and Jackson Koller, Jaelynne and Everlee Childress, and Amelia Childress; and siblings, Frank (Ava) Childress and Blake (Angela) Childress. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Douglas Childress, and siblings, La Mar Childress and Jack Mitchel Childress.


A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 18th at 2:00 pm at Central Baptist Church located at 33814 US-96, Buna, Texas 77612. A visitation will be held before the memorial service from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Central Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at Magnolia Springs Cemetery in Kirbyville after the memorial service. Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville, Texas is assisting the family with arrangements. Dave Childress will be remembered for his unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and wholehearted commitment to every aspect of his life. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
