D.E.C.A. gives youth a chance to grow and develop talents

D.E.C.A. School of Performing Arts helps children between the ages of 10 and 25 to develop and showcase their abilities. D.E.C.A. is an acronym for Developing Every Child's Ability.

For the past three years, they have held an Outdoor Community Music Fest. The event is held annually at the Bleakwood Community Center (Old Bleakwood School) located at 266 FM 363.

This year's event will be held on Saturday, November 4th from 1-5 p.m.

Director Stephanie Gilder said that the event is for the community to have the opportunity to showcase their talent in music, song, dance, poem, or any area of gifting. The event is hosted by the D.E.C.A School of Performing Arts Choir. This is an outlet for youth to grow and learn in a safe, caring environment all for no charge.

Gilder is a musician and she has played the keyboard and drums for 40-plus years. Gilder also teaches children music and is a second-grade teacher with BISD.

If anyone is interested in performing, or taking classes you are encouraged to contact Stephanie Gilder at 409-782-3561.
