Controlled burn quickly became a woods fire in Call today

Just before 6:30 Friday evening, the Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department was called out to 152 Private Rd 8094 in Call for a woods fire.

According to reports, the callers neighbor was doing some outside burning when the fire got out of control. Once the flames reached the adjacent property, the decision was made to call for help.

Kirbyville Fire Chief Greg Ellis said, "The fire started out as a control burn. It burned most of the day but embers got over in a clear cut and started another fire.

It's definitely too early to start this again so we ask the public to be safe when burning and do not leave the fire unattended."
