Colder Air Moves In Today, Possible Winter Weather on Monday
COLD AIR: The Arctic cold front is approaching the area and will move into East Texas this morning. This will lead to much colder temperatures today, with highs not getting out of the 40s across the area. On Monday, it is likely that areas along Hwy 190 and north will not rise above freezing at all. Through the day on Monday, below-freezing temperatures will push all the way to the coast. The freezing line is expected to reach the coast by around 10pm on Monday evening, at which point all of our area will be at or below freezing.
WINTER WEATHER: There remains the potential for light freezing rain and sleet from early Monday morning into the afternoon north of I-10. The *best* chance for freezing rain and sleet will be across northern areas of Jasper, Newton, and Tyler Counties. In these areas, there could be a few slick spots on the roadways. Further south to the I-10 corridor, freezing rain and sleet is certainly possible, but it is not expected to impact travel in these areas. At this time, disruptions to power are not expected, nor are roads expected to become impassable. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Tyler, Northern Jasper, and Northern Newton Counties in anticipation of this light wintry precipitation.
*No snow is expected.*
