Clayton Randall Hardy Feb. 15, 1942 - Aug. 21, 2024

Clayton Randall “Randy” Hardy, age 82, passed away on August 21, 2024, in Jasper, Texas.  Clayton was born on February 15, 1942 in Albion, OK.  He was a man of strong will and diverse interests, ranging from history and mythology to more practical pursuits like baking bread and monitoring the stock market.


Randy served in the Army from September 1963 to July 1967, achieving the rank of E-5.  His military career was distinguished by his receipt of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and recognition as a Sharpshooter with the Rifle M-1.   He was honorably discharged, carrying the discipline and resilience he learned in the military throughout his subsequent life.


Survived by his wife, Marie (Richard); daughter Sara (Hardy) Hunt and husband, Nick; granddaughter, Katelyn Hunt; sisters, Judith Shreder and Karen Metcalf.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton H. Hardy and Ethel Pettyjohn Hardy and his siblings, Linda White and Larry Hardy.


At this time, there are no plans for a service.  Contributions in memory of Randy can be made to the Jasper Share food bank or a local food bank of your choice, as per the family’s request.


Services are under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
