Updated: Car fire at Danes Seafood quickly jumped to the adjacent property

Updated: Mar 25

At 4:00 pm Friday afternoon, Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department was called out to Hwy 96 at Danes Seafood on the South side of town for a report of a car that was on fire. Within two minutes a secondary call came regarding a grass fire on Stadium Street which is right next door to Danes.

Upon arrival, Firefighters began working on a 2011 Nissan SUV at Dane’s Crawfish that was next to the treeline where the grass caught fire and quickly made it to the property next door.

Owner of On Trend Design, Misty Litton said that the building was damaged from the fire. Fire was inside three of the walls which had to be torn open and sprayed to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters had to put large fans in the doors to pull the smoke out.

Trout Creek Fire was called out to assist.

We are currently waiting on word as to what happened to cause the car to catch fire and will update our readers if that information becomes available.
