Calvin "Roy" Sirmons passed at age 71
Calvin Wayne Sirmons, 71, of Spurger passed peacefully on February 19, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Kountze, Texas to Robert and Dorothy Sirmons, he lived in Spurger for many years. Calvin retired from Entergy with 25 years of service. In 1996 he began cutting hair and owned Roy’s Barber Shop in Kirbyville retiring in December 2022. He made many friends during this time and cut several generations of customers.
Calvin loved playing on his tractor and taking care of his many cows. He loved to cook and bake and was known at Christmas as the barber who baked the cakes. His favorite past time was chasing grandkids who he loved dearly. Calvin was a man of his word and respected greatly.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sirmons and Dorothy Dean Sirmons; his first wife, Gaynell Sirmons and a sister, Rita Sirmons.
He is survived by his wife, Janis Moore; son, Robert Sirmons and wife, Monica; daughter, LeAnn Drumm and husband, Steve; step sons, Chris Shipp and wife, Cheryl, Tim Shipp and wife, Kim, Brian Shipp and wife, Brandy, Kenny Shipp and wife, Rita; grandchildren, Jordan and Casey Sirmons, Faith Sirmons and Kyle Mott, Aspen Hicks, Baily Hicks and Rylee Drumm, Abbi Shipp, Haley Shipp, Carter Shipp, Regan Shipp, Marley Shipp and Meghan Shipp; great grandchild, Raylan Sirmons; sister, Theresa Nikodem and Nik; brothers-in-law, Curtis Linder and Jim Johnson and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held Friday, February 23, 2024, at 2 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jason Glenn officiating. Burial will follow at the Antioch Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Sirmons, Steve Drumm, Jordan Sirmons, Jimmy Jeansonne, Cory Jeansonne, Joey Sheffield and Blake Patterson. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Raylan Sirmons.
