Bon Wier log truck hit by train in Evadale today

A Newton County log truck driver had a very close call this morning after his fully loaded log truck was hit by a train.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said, "At 10:19 Tuesday morning, 31-year-old Donavin Rosemon of Bon Wier was driving a fully loaded 1989 Freightliner log truck traveling south on FM 1131 in Evadale. At the same time, a Rio Grande Pacific train was traveling west. It is reported that the driver of the truck tractor disregarded the railroad crossing signals and traveled across the railroad tracks and was struck by the train, splitting the semi-trailer in two."

Rosemon was not injured.

Clark said that this accident is still under investigation.
