Boat reported stolen from Buna back in December, has not been located

A Buna couple have been searching for their boat since December 11, 2024 when it was stolen from their yard.

The owner said that at 1:15 am that morning, she and her husband were asleep when what appeared (on surveillance) to be a Ford 4-door half ton truck, stopped in front of their home. The truck was described as being dark in color with a lighter colored strip across the bottom. She said that three, maybe four people got out of the vehicle and came into the yard. The boat was parked under an awning next to the house and their personal vehicles were parked in front of it.

The owner said that the suspects worked together and maneuvered the boat and items sitting next to it in a way that allowed them to push it out of the yard and hitched it to the Ford truck. The individuals all got back into the truck and left the area.

After searching surveillance cameras at two local businesses, Truck Mizer, and the Big Red Barn, the boat and trailer could be seen being pulled by the truck traveling north on Hwy 96. However, surveillance at MeMoms convenience store in Call Junction does not show the truck or the boat so apparently it did not come that far North.

She said that her husband had been working on the boat to take the grandkids fishing. The boat itself is in good, but not new condition. It has a new outboard motor, trolling motor, and wiring, but the lights were not working when the boat was stolen because it was still in the process of being updated. There were several other items taken from the property as well.

If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the boat or any other stolen property, they are asked to call Captain Jason McClelland at the Jasper County Sheriff's Department at 408-384-5417.
