Best little 2-3 Team in Texas

Statewide computer rankings for our local teams as of today: 4A DII Jasper @ #28; 3A DI Kirbyville @ # 21, Buna @ #85; 3A DII Newton #8.

Of note is that Newton is probably the best 2-3 team in the state. A fledgeling Eagle squad had some tough losses against larger squads in WOS, currently ranked #8 in the 4A DII, Jefferson @ #8 in 3A DII, and DeRidder which is equivalent to a 4A DII school in Texas. Their two wins were over Tatum, currently ranked #10 in 3A DI and a blowout against previously unbeaten Anderson-Shiro. Their biggest challenge, at this point for their 48th district championship appears to be the once beaten Woodville Eagles.
