Beech Grove VFD, Jasper VFD and Texas Forest Service called to 'wind driven' wildfire moving into the woods
Beech Grove VFD Chief James Gunter

At 2:42 pm Friday Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a grass/woods fire on the side of US Highway 190 approximately 2 miles east of the intersection of FM 777 near the Beech Grove Community.
Arriving units found a wind driven fire quickly spreading deeper into the woods to the north.
The fire was quickly attacked and progression was stopped. The fire was controlled at approximately 3 pm.
The Jasper Texas Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to assist. The Texas A&M Forest Service was also dispatched and placed containment lines around the perimeter. In addition, they back-burned those containment lines.
The fire started on the side of the highway, unknown cause at this time.
BGVFD responded with Brush 11, Brush 12, Tanker 12, and 10 firefighters.
Smoke will remain in the area throughout the afternoon.
A special thank you to the retired firefighter who stopped to assist….she had on a Dallas Fire Rescue so we’re assuming she’s retired from Dallas…..left before we could get her name.
