Beech Grove VFD and Texas A&M Forest Service joined Tri-Community VFD to extinguish an evening fire

At 7:41 p.m. last night, the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Dept with a woods fire off of CR 317 in the Springhill hunting lease.

Beech Grove Fire Chief James Gunter said, "Arriving units found a woods fire deep within the woods of the hunting lease. The fire was attacked and the spread stopped. Units from the Texas A&M Forest Service - Jasper office arrived shortly thereafter and put fire lines in to contain the remaining fire. The fire burned a total of 3.2 acres".

The cause of the fire is unknown but thought to be of suspicious origin.

Beech Grove VFD responded with a brush truck, an engine, a tanker, and 10 firefighters.
