Arrest has been made in a 9 month old burglary case in Jasper County

Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard announces arrest for Brookeland’s Deep Wood Novelty and Smoke Shop Burglary from April 2024

On January 15th, 2025, Jasper County Sheriff’s Investigator Calvin Starkie arrested a juvenile for the alleged offense of Burglary of a Habitation (F2) and Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to commit another Felony (F1). The arrest stems from the April 8th, 2024 Burglary of the Deep Woods Novelty and Smoke Shop located on US Highway 96 in Brookeland. It’s also alleged the juvenile re-burglarized the same location on April 17th, 2024. The juvenile was turned over to juvenile authorities. No photo or the name of the suspect will not be provided because it’s a juvenile case.

Sheriff Havard states, “I want to commend Investigator Starkie for his fine police work. This case is 9 months old. He was assigned this case and was able to obtain an arrest warrant within days. We will work tirelessly to bring people to justice when they burglarize and attempt to steal property in Jasper County that doesn’t belong to them”.
