Armed Robbery at Howdy's Liquor in Newton County

The Newton County Sheriff's Department received a call Monday night at approximately 8:15 in regards to an armed robbery at Howdy's Liquor Store on Hwy 190 near the Jasper/Newton County line.

According to the report, a black male entered the store, pointed a gun at the store clerk and demanded the cash out of the register.  After receiving the money, the suspect fled the scene with an unknown amount of cash.
