An arrest has been made in at least one of the convenience store robberies in Jasper
Jasper Police Chief Garrett Foster said, "On Thanksgiving Evening, just before 9 p.m., a black male dressed in all black entered the Texaco convenience store located at 1113 North Wheeler and committed an aggravated robbery. The clerk reported that the suspect was wearing a mask, walked behind the counter, brandished a firearm, and demanded cash from the register. The subject then fled the location north on Hwy 96. Sgt. Fowler and his K9 Mak conducted a track for the suspect. During the track, Mak located several clothing items the suspect shed as he fled through the woods".
Foster said that because of a thorough investigation, Detectives, along with help from Patrol and the Narcotics Division, were able to identify a suspect in the case. On 12/4/24, Detectives with the department interviewed the suspect and obtained a confession from a 19-year-old Jasper resident. An arrest warrant was sought, and the suspect was taken into custody. His name will be released after formal charges and arraignment.
ETB will share his name and mugshot after he is arraigned tomorrow.
