Alvin Cade Prewitt Dec. 5, 1942 - Aug. 25, 2024


Alvin Cade Prewitt, 81 of Jasper Texas passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024 at Rayburn Healthcare and Rehab. 


Alvin was born in Jasper on December 5, 1942.  Alvin proudly served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1964. After being discharged from the Navy, Alvin met and married his wife Betty in Houston. After the birth of daughters Wendy and Judy, Alvin moved his family to his hometown of Jasper Texas in 1976. In 1983 Alvin opened his own auto repair shop, Alvin’s Auto Repair, which he operated until his retirement in 2013.  Having a passion for vehicles, especially classic cars and trucks, Alvin became a well-known builder of street rods. He was a trusted master mechanic in the community and a founding member of the Lakes Area Cruisers car club, having served as President for many years.


Alvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Faver Prewitt; sister, Betty Allen (Gilbert) of Pollock Texas; daughters, Wendy Sitton of Waller Texas, and Judy Seidensticker (Chris) of Floresville Texas; grandsons, Paul C Pickering of Jasper Texas, and Matthew Sitton of Waller Texas; granddaughters, Jessie Sitka (James) of LaVernia Texas, Emma Aguirre (Andrew) of San Antonio, and Hope Sitton of Waller Texas and great grandsons, Callen Sitka and Carter Sitka.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Ray and Pearl Prewitt; brothers, Kenneth Prewitt and Herbert Prewitt and sisters, Mary Jane Rowell and Becky Adams.


A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Stringer Griffin Funeral Home, and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the funeral home.


Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
