Accident on 1004 sends one to the hospital

The Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department and The Texas Department of Public Safety were called out to a crash on FM 1004, near the 412-mile marker, today just after 1 pm.

DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 1:20 p.m., a 2005 Ford pickup was traveling west, followed by a 2024 Freightliner van. It is reported that the pickup slowed to make a right turn into a private drive and was rear ended by the van".

The driver of the pickup, identified as 42-year-old Kristan Allday of Kirbyville, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the van, identified as 43-year-old Jeremy Read of Lufkin, was not injured.
