7 Day Forecast and Tropics Update

TROPICS UPDATE | A tropical wave, in the far eastern Atlantic, has a moderate chance of development during the next 7 days. High pressure will generally persist over Texas the next two weeks which is good news.

Strong upper-level high pressure persists over Northwest Texas and ridges into Southeast Texas resulting in hot, humid dry conditions. This will likely continue through the weekend with highs in the middle to upper 90s.

Isolated showers return to the forecast Sunday and Monday as moisture levels in the atmosphere increase a bit. At the same time, afternoon highs may drop a couple of degrees.

Finally, Tuesday through Thursday of next week, sufficient moisture in the atmosphere will warrant a slight, 20% coverage of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms as the high moves to our north and east inducing a southeast flow in the middle atmosphere.

Upper Level high pressure will likely persist over Texas through the next two weeks.

Currently, upper-level high pressure over Northwest Texas ridges into our area resulting in hot, humid, dry conditions.

Tuesday, the high will move north and northeast of SE Texas. This will result in a southeast flow off the gulf in the middle layers increasing moisture values. The result is widely-scattered showers and thunderstorms.
