Updated:150 acre wildfire near Burkeville-containment is unknown

Updated: the blaze is 100% contained at 65 total acres.

The Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department is currently on scene of a 150 acres wildfire. East End VFD is there as mutual aid and the Texas Forest Service is also on scene cutting fire breaks.

The blaze is on FM 692 and at this time, there is no word on how it may have started.

The Burn Ban was dropped this morning in Newton County, however firefighters around the area have continually urged citizens to either completely abstain from burning, or excersise extreme caution.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Verizon lines are down meaning that communication is spotty at best. People in the area are urged to also stay tuned with a secondary form of information in the event of a change in the situation.
